Octave
The Octave is an extensive collection of double-matured whiskies with something for all tastes, be it a single malt, single grain or blended malt whisky. The Octave has been experimenting with maturing whisky in smaller casks for over 20 years.
What is an Octave cask: An Octave is one eighth of capacity of a butt, with a volume of between 60 and 70 litres. The butts are dismantled, staves cut down and then reassembled into smaller casks.
The ‘Octivation’ process: The whisky is transferred into a series of small octave casks and stored at the Huntly warehouses, where the second maturation is closely monitored to ensure the highest quality, before bottling at cask strength and natural colour.
